lanker is landlocked
landlocked! those of you in watery places like new york city, LA, norfolk, i envy you right now! wait that's everyone. truly i'm loving ohio, with its cornfields, deep woods and hills, but i definitely miss the water already, the beach, all that. being an emergency medcine intern has actually been really cool. of course the nurses like to give us a hard time for being rookies and we all feel like we're just playing doctors on tv, but slowly and surely i'm getting in the groove and its awesome. i had my 3rd shift at columbus childrens ED today, it was exciting, with lots of injuries, broken bones, etc. i like injuries because "we can fix that" as dr. goode used to say.
yes randall, i too have photo droughts, like right now. my computer is dying a slow death so that's my current excuse. but this photo is from before leaving VA. its up in hampton at the marina where one of my kids works, i think he actually took this photo (credits to tyler v) with a 30 second exposure, camera propped on a piling with a tshirt... there's no predicting lightning of course but it worked out.
Where's Waldo?
Or better yet: Where's Kevin?
I'll give you a clue, I'm not actually manipulating any instruments and I'm not the woman.
Yep, that's me! I think that was during a VSD repair. Dr. Gilbert is the Peds CT surgeon I spent 6 weeks with last year. It was Awesome! I was talking to Dr. Ross (peds cardiologist) who was saying that Pediatric Cardiology is a cruel mistress, and that the good peds cardiologists don't just want to do it, they are driven to do it, like an artist. They can't imagine doing anything else. I'll continue to keep an open mind, but so far I think that's where I'm at!
