ciao italia...

so...after deciding on this last minute trip with kiran (tickets were booked sunday, we left monday), i'm sitting here writing from an internet cafe in firenze (my third time here...oy) about to kick kiran in the head.  (by the way, he's sitting right next to me looking for a nice murano vase to take home...that doesnt sound very much like kiran, but this is italy and it tends to mess with your head in ways that only italians can understand?) 

rome was grand...we actually spent more time in pompei looking and staring at vesuvius on a cool, rainy day.  the way the clouds were situated around the mountaintop, it looked like the mount was smoking, kinda making us wonder whether he was about to erupt again.  rain...spèaking of which, has been following us nonstop.  yes, i got suckered again into buying an overpriced umbrella from an italian street vendor just because i didnt learn my lesson the first two times around and think to actually pack a small one to take with me.  that's okay though, cause kiran got suckered into buying two of them...
